"We stumbled to this nice quaint restaurant! The food is great as well as the service. Try the homemade sangria....it was great! Also, try the calamari and you won't want it anywhere else! Oysters, shrimp and scallops were great as well....very fresh and fried in fresh oil which makes all the difference in the world! Great, Great, Great!!!"
"I only wish we had found this gem sooner! Ate lunch at the Angler's and had the place all to ourselves. Everything was delicious and the service was awesome. Definitely recommended for the food, service and location. My sons LOVED thier food; I loved that mac and cheese came in additon to the usual fries with the meals. The crab cakes were excellent, mostly crab meat!"
"Wow, what a fantastic place! From the atmosphere to the food, there was not one negative thing to be said! My husband and I stopped in Anglers our first night in Hilton Head for dinner. It is a quaint, inviting restaurant. Jeremy was our bartender and was thoroughly entertaining! Barbara, the owner, is so accommodating and friendly. How nice it was to have the owner enjoy a glass of wine with us and sincerely appreciate us as customers. If only every restaurant were 1/10th this good! The food was phenomenal! My husband rarely eats fish and could not stop raving about the grouper. He even said he would eat fish all the time if it could be that good. Thanks to Barbara and Jeremy for the hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! "
"We stopped to have lunch here and were pleasantly surprised! One of their lunch specials was a soft shelled crab sandwich, which I can never pass up since I can't get them at home. The crab was battered, deep fried and had a delicious sauce drizzled over it. It came on a fresh bun with lettuce and tomato. I chose to eat it open-faced because I didn't want to miss the full flavor of the fresh crab. I was not disappointed! Not only was the food fresh and delicious but the service was excellent! Prices were very reasonable too. "
"From the crazy decor to the delectable food Anglers has proved itself to be a must see on Hilton Head Island. The service is amazing though the servers often seem overworked, and the food comes quickly which is a plus if you have young children (like myself). Our family truly enjoyed our visit and will be sure to come back whenever we visit the island."
"This may seem like a casual place with great funky beach decor but the menu is much more upscale. It is quite a surprise. Close to the beach and near Coligny Plaza. We tried the Tidal Wave of Onions and the Calamari for appetizers. Both were excellent. We also dined on the salads, and sandwiches. All of us were impressed. It's clean, and have a very friendly staff. This is a great place to go after the beach, shopping, or meeting friends after work. "
"Go here. You will not be disappointed. I am the Chicago tourist in Thomas' review (Yelp, 7/11/2011). There really isn't much more to say except that as a seafood snob, this place comes out on top. We had traveled to eat at another "hot spot" on the island, only to fall back on Angler's. We were seated immediately and the owner, Joel, came to our table to chat for a bit."
"The fried oysters we delicious and the salad was fresh with REAL caesar dressing. I had the night's special, salmon wrapped in a pastry with spinach and covered in a lobster cream sauce. I would have ordered dessert, but I was just too full. And really, there is something about that bread. You don't even need to smother it in the garlic-roasted butter that Angler's provides. I'm getting hungry as I write this review. I can't wait for my next trip back!"
"We had dinner at this charming undiscovered gem this week. We've lived on HHI for 4 years and this is one of the best meals we've had in that entire time. What sets this place apart from the usual large tourist trap is: good ingredients, freshly prepared for a reasonable price. You get the feeling at the regular tourist haunts that the food has been prepared a long time ago and is just sitting around waiting to be thrown on plate and warmed up. Not so at Anglers. Examples: We had a guest with us from the Chicago area who wanted to try fried oysters. We watched as they breaded the oysters right in front of us. Our ceasar salads (which came with the meal) were crisp and fresh as well as delicious. In my shrimp scampi the garlic had clearly been freshly minced and the pasta was done for my order - not cooked yesterday to be dunked in hot water for serving. Our dinner rolls were exquisite and served with freshly prepared garlic butter. I don't know if they made the rolls on site or bought them from someone who made them from scratch but this was the best bread we've had on HHI -- not just a hard roll tossed in the warmer. Both tourists and full time residents need to discover Anglers. We had a memorable meal at a very reasonable price."
